Paper Fish by Christine Hingston

Carmen McFaull

Since retiring from a career of classroom teaching and art education, I have been working full time on developing, exhibiting and marketing my style of work.

As a teenager, I learnt skills in painting in oils from my mother who is also an artist. But in the mid-nineties I participated in a pastel painting workshop and embraced the medium instantly. Now I work in either pastel, oil or gouache, preparing for up to thirty exhibitions a year throughout Perth, country areas and the Eastern states.

I currently run workshops on Rottnest Island and in India, and facilitate life drawing sessions for the Pastel Society of W.A. Schools are also taking advantage of my Artist-in-Residence program.

I enjoy capturing the essence of Rottnest and the south west coast of W.A. I also travel overseas to gather potential photographical material from countries such as India, Bali, Italian countryside and coastal areas, the Greek Islands, Morocco, Spain, the French Riviera and Venice.
