Nick Economo, a resident of Perth in Western Australia, began his career on leaving the Fine Arts School of Perth’s College of Further Education in 1971. Nick spent many years in the far north of Australia and was inspired to paint and sculpt bird life at this time, today he maintains a studio at his home in Floreat. He is strongly influenced by nature and his surroundings, finding fresh stimulus for the deep imagination that lies behind his original works when he travels to the southwest coastal and wilderness outback areas of Western Australia. Today Nick embraces an impressionistic style in his paintings using a palate with lots of strong bold colours to produce the depth and texture which is evident in his floral pieces that allows one’s imagination to sense the fragrance and beauty of his subjects. Nick has exhibited widely during the ensuing thirty years since leaving college in mixed and solo exhibitions and has achieved considerable recognition through awards and prizes.
