Born in England, Shirley emigrated to Australia as a child in 1965. She studied for a Diploma of Art and Design and is a qualified draftsperson.

Since 1990 Shirley has exhibited in numerous group and solo exhibitions and won several Art Awards.

Shirley prefers to work in pastels, acrylics and gouache and their combination.
Her subjects in the main, are water scenes, figures and still life, generated by trips overseas and within Australia.
