Jan Neil is famous for her vibrant, detailed acrylic paintings and silk screen giclee prints. Jan’s talents predominantly began with the water colour medium until 1989. In the latter part of 1989 she traveled through Europe, visiting such places as Italy, Greece and the Greek Islands, where she painted and took photographs of the magnificent surrounds. When Jan returned to Australia that same year she commenced her image making through silk screen prints and incorporated the materials of canvas, paper and gold leaf.

The Tasmanian born artist traveled for a second time in 1994, where she visited the U.S.A., U.K. and many other parts of Europe, in total visiting 13 countries, their galleries, public and private and taking photographs. Soon her print medium gave way to painting with acrylics, and although her paintings changed visually, she still found herself using collages of manufactured items within the painting process.

Jan Neil increases her painting texture through the addition of sand to the paint, which also makes for a durable surface.
