Christine Hingston was born in Perth Western Australia and from an early age art was her passion.
Sitting at her desk in Primary School she was lost in day dreams her imagination running wild with images of the beach and the sea, the travelling circus with its colourful clowns and performing elephants and those faces that tell of a lifetime spent in the most isolated of bush towns, places Christine has since come to know well.

Despite travelling extensively and living overseas, the colours of Australia remains her inspiration.

After graduating from Claremont Collage of Fine Art in 1972 she followed her dreams and went to London, continuing to draw and producing memorable portraits of early morning commuters on the tube.

Returning to Australia Christine found herself, with husband and two young children living at times many miles from the closest town in the remote West Australian Goldfields.
The spirit and people of this place evident in her swirling bush landscapes.

In her studio set in an historic rambling cottage garden in the hills above Perth, Christine is as inspired as ever. Painting every day and still captivated by those special colours.
