Born Perth 1943

Early years in Boyup Brook. Moved to Cottesloe in 1951.
Educated Swanbourne Primary and Scotch College.

academic qualifications
1960 – 63 Studied 2 years full-time, then part-time.
Diploma Commercial Art & Design, Perth Technical College

employment history
1962 – 73 Employed as visualiser, studio manager and art director in advertising industry in Perth and Sydney
1973 Formed Spaven Graphic Design, a very successful art studio that operated as a consultant to industry and free-lance art director to advertising agencies for 26 years. During this time, was a visiting lecturer at WAIT (Curtin) and TAFE School of Art & Design. Also free-lanced to the ABC and 9 Network as a courtroom illustrator.
